The Small BREW Act (H.R. 1236) has the support of all but a few representatives, including our very own from the 11th Congressional District. Heath Shuler still has not signed on as a sponsor for the bill. If passed H.R. 1236 will cut our federal excise tax from $7 a barrel to $3.50 for the 1st 60,000 barrels (A number none of us here in Asheville reach yet). A savings that may enable some breweries to add jobs or give them money to reinvest.
